Blogger's Quilt Festival: Mod Blocks

Hi there! Welcome to any visitors from the Blogger's Quilt Festival. My name is Amy Garro, and I'm a stay at home mom of 3 boys under 3. My husband watches the kids from time to time so I can indulge my quilting addiction ;)
For this year's Blogger's Quilt Festival, I'm entering my Mod Blocks quilt.
This quilt was inspired by a regency-style wallpaper. I altered the design until it felt just right for a quilt.

In keeping with the rectangular design of the quilt, I quilted an all-over rectangular meander.

When I designed this quilt on the computer, 78" x 90" didn't seem very large, but man! This guy is big! It was a lot of work to push it through my old, tiny machine. The width of it is as long as my futon, making it quite luxurious to stretch out under.

I used all Kaffe Fassett shot cottons, which means the texture of the quilt top is extremely soft. It quickly became my favorite nap-on-the-couch quilt.

The pattern I wrote for this quilt appears in the Winter 2014 issue of Modern Quilts Unlimited. It's my first quilt in a printed publication, and I'm so honored it was included!
Thanks so much for visiting, and many thanks to Amy for holding the festival! If you feel so inclined, check out the different tabs at the top of my page to learn more about me and to see some more of my quilt projects :) My other BQF entry, Flocks & Blocks, can be found here.
