I haven’t posted about this here, on my blog, yet, but wanted to give a quick update about my flooded house. Flooded as in my youngest epic-ly caused $36,000 of water damage to the house by lodging a diaper in an upstairs toilet. That was 5 months ago, and we are still under construction. We went through a whole series of construction woes along the way with the contracting company, but honestly, it’s not fun stuff and it just sounds like complaining to talk about. Hence why I didn’t post about it yet. But! Now, we are getting to the awesome parts, so I bringing you guys into the know. Flooring is going in this week, and then it will be some finishing touches.
This is the current state of our playroom:
Obviously we’ve only moved a handful of things in. (Hello empty walls + crappy phone photo filter!)
But that quilt! On that couch!! They were maddddde for each other. (Even though they weren’t, not really, but it sure does look like it and I love it!)
The first, super-printy pillow I bought at Target. Their home section is pretty amazing these days :). The two pillows on the right, and the yellow pillow on the left (in the above pillow), I did sew – no tutorial because GUYS. I’m horrible at zippers and anything 3-dimensional. But they are filled with IKEA down pillows, $6 each. They are amazing!!! Heather Jones clued us in on this when she presented to the Indy Modern Quilt Guild. They are ultimately fluffy and make your pillows look so dreamy.
This is my Gus and Maria quilt (original post here) and I almost donated it because it’s a baby quilt, but I’m glad I still have it – I think it will be a great accent for the room. The couch is new, to replaced a toilet-waterlogged futon, and can be found here. Thank you insurance company! The area rug is actually for the dining room, but we threw it down to protect the floors. For now, we need a rug for the back room. And it can’t be too busy cuz c’mon….obviously the quilts and pillows are the star of the show here ;)
Unfortunately, my sewing room has been looking a bit like this recently:
I’ll update occasionally on this stuff as the house continues to come together! I also have some other fun posts coming – like one about some new sewing machines <3 <3
And some glimpses into other messy, loved rooms in our home currently:
